Djoos was waived by the Anaheim Ducks yesterday in a somewhat surprising move. The 26-year-old defenseman was acquired by the Ducks at the trade deadline and had been signed to a one-year, $1 million extension at the end of the season. He’s a Stanley Cup champion, though he did spend the majority of the 2019-20 season in the AHL.
It’s a bit of a disappointment and with the move, the Ducks lose a bit of defensive depth. That said, Djoos may have had trouble finding a spot in the lineup even later on in the year, with the likes of Kodie Curran, Jacob Larsson and even Josh Mahura all competing for ice time.
All other players who were waived by the Ducks yesterday cleared.
