The Anaheim Ducks claimed defenseman Andrej Sustr off waivers from the Tampa Bay Lightning today.
Sustr is 31 years old and has played 15 games with the Lightning this year, as well as 25 games with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch. He had spent the previous two years in the KHL and interesting enough, the two teams he played games with before heading to the KHL were the Lightning and Ducks (even if he only played five games with Anaheim).
The defenseman is on a one-year contract, with a $750,000 cap hit. It’s somewhat surprising to see the Ducks claiming him, but with Josh Manson injured, and both Manson and Hampus Lindholm as possible trade candidates, they could need some depth.
