The Anaheim Ducks picked up a 4-1 win over the Seattle Kraken last night, improving to a 17-9-5 record this season.
The Ducks had a good start and Trevor Zegras opened the scoring about midway through the first period on a rush, beating Philipp Grubauer, who was taken out by his own teammate. Then a little later, Derek Grant extended the lead on another rush, beating Grubauer with a shot through the five-hole. It was a really strong period for the Ducks, who went into the intermission leading 12-6 in shots after controlling a lot of the play in the frame.
Anaheim picked up where they left off in the second period, as Troy Terry picked up a loose puck in front and increased the lead to 3-0 under two minutes into the frame. The Kraken would build some momentum after that though and the game started to even out a bit. Seattle pulled the game back to within two goals on a power play later in the period, as Ryan Donato took a good pass from Jordan Eberle and beat Anthony Stolarz.
It wasn’t an overly eventful third period, with minimal quality chances exchanged. That said, Sam Carrick would score his sixth goal of the season midway through the frame, getting to a puck that bounced off the boards and catching Chris Driedger off guard. Anaheim limited Seattle to just five shots all period and hung on for a 4-1 win.
It was an impressive effort from the Ducks, who really limited chances for the Kraken. That said, Anthony Stolarz was steady once again, as John Gibson remained injured.
The Ducks remain in first place in the Pacific Division and their next game will come tomorrow against the Arizona Coyotes at home.
