The Anaheim Ducks announced yesterday that they’ve re-signed Sam Carrick to a two-year contract extension. The deal carries a $850,000 cap hit, according to CapFriendly.com.
Carrick is 30 years old and became a full-time NHL forward this season, having scored 11 goals and 19 points in 64 games, a pace of 14 goals and 24 points per 82 games.
He was a great surprise for the team, as a really strong depth forward for the Ducks. Given the short term and very low AAV, this is a no-lose contract for the Ducks. There’s no risk attached for Anaheim and if Carrick continues to be impactful in the bottom-six, this will be a really nice contract for the next two years – even if cap space isn’t necessarily a huge concern for the team right now.
