The Anaheim Ducks announced yesterday that they’ve signed defenseman Pavel Mintyukov to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Mintyukov was selected by the Ducks with the 10th overall pick in this year’s NHL Draft. The defenseman scored 17 goals and 62 points in 67 games with the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit this past season.

The contract carries a $950,000 cap hit and could also slide for a year, should Mintyukov not play at least 10 NHL games next season. It seems unlikely that he’ll play NHL games in 2022-23 but given the Ducks’ current lack of defensive depth, it’s possible he gets a trial run.
