The Anaheim Ducks have reportedly signed forward Tobias Rieder to a professional tryout agreement, according to CapFriendly.com
Rieder is 28 years old and has played a total of 478 career NHL games with five different teams. This past season, he scored five goals and seven points in 44 games with the Buffalo Sabres.
There’s no downside to a PTO, though it is somewhat puzzling for Anaheim to be taking a look at Rieder. The Ducks already have a somewhat crowded forward group and didn’t even give Danton Heinen a qualifying offer. The priority should be getting younger players into the lineup and adding Tobias Rieder to the mix isn’t going to help.
