The Anaheim Ducks placed nine players on waivers today. Those players are: Andrew Agozzino, David Backes, Sam Carrick, Chase De Leo, Christian Djoos, Vinni Lettieri, Andrew Poturalski, Anthony Stolarz and Andy Welinski.

The biggest names on this list are David Backes and Christian Djoos. Backes was acquired from the Boston Bruins last season, in an attempt for the Bruins to clear cap space, and played six games with the Ducks last season. He has one year left on his contract, at a $4.5 million cap hit for the Ducks.

Djoos was acquired from the Washington Capitals at the trade deadline, in exchange for Daniel Sprong. Djoos played nine games with the Ducks after being acquired, before signing a one-year, $1 million extension in May. Djoos was a contender to earn a spot in Anaheim’s defense group, so it’ll be interesting to see how things unfold on Anaheim's blue line.
