The New York Islanders are back in action tonight, as they face the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 3 of their second round series.

The Islanders have been the better team overall in the two games of the series and they arguably deserved to win Game 2, after mounting a huge comeback and completely outplaying the Flyers in the third period. In a poll I did after the game, 57 per cent of readers said that they were happy with how New York had played and I have to agree. The key will be not giving up an early lead this time around. The Islanders have also done a great job staying out of the box so far, giving the Flyers just three power play opportunities in two games.

Despite Semyon Varlamov’s rough game, I think he’s earned a bit of leeway and in my opinion, Thomas Greiss didn’t have to make enough quality saves to show that he should be starting over Varlamov, who has been great in the playoffs so far.

It’ll be interesting to see if any lineup changes are made for the game and in my opinion, I still think Derick Brassard should draw back into the lineup. Having said that, the Islanders haven’t had trouble scoring so far in the series and Ross Johnston has been pretty decent on the third line.

Either way, the Islanders have an opportunity to take back the series lead and this could be a pivotal game.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
