The Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed defenseman Gustav Forsling to a one-year contract, worth $700,000.

Forsling spent the 2019-20 season playing with the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL, where he scored eight goals and 26 points in 57 games. He’s played a total of 122 career NHL games, all with the Chicago Blackhawks, and this was the first season since he came over to North America in which he didn’t play any NHL games.

It’s unlikely that we see Forsling get a spot in the lineup and he’ll probably either be a spare in the NHL or playing in the AHL once again. That said, Forsling is still just 24 years old and considering he does have NHL experience, he could end up playing games with the Hurricanes at some point.
