The Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed forward Morgan Geekie to a one-year contract, with a $750,000 cap hit.

Geekie was originally selected by the Hurricanes back in the third round of the 2017 NHL Draft. He spent the majority of this past season in the NHL, scoring three goals and nine points in 36 games, a pace of seven goals and 21 points per 82 games.

It’s still somewhat up in the air as to whether Geekie will be protected in the expansion draft, though it does seem likely. Next season, Geekie should have a full-time role in the bottom-six, making this a great value deal for the Hurricanes.
