Brind’Amour has been part of Carolina’s coaching staff for the last decade, but only stepped into the role of head coach three years ago. Since he took over, the Hurricanes have made the playoffs in each of the last three seasons, after missing the postseason in nine straight seasons before Brind’Amour became head coach.
In his three seasons as a head coach, Brind’Amour holds a very impressive 120-66-20 record. This year, he was also named as a finalist for the Jack Adams Award, as coach of the year.
Though it seemed unlikely that Brind’Amour would leave the Hurricanes, it’s great to see confirmation that he’s not going anywhere. He’s been key in the team’s recent success and by all accounts, seems to be a coach that players really enjoy playing for.
