The New York Islanders are reportedly likely to sign veteran forward Travis Zajac to a one-year contract extension, according to The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta.

It was previously reported that the Islanders are likely to sign Casey Cizikas, Kyle Palmieri and Zach Parise as well.
Zajac is 36 years old and was acquired from the New Jersey Devils at the trade deadline, after spending parts of 15 seasons with the Devils. After being acquired by the Islanders, Zajac had to fight for a spot in the lineup. He scored a goal and two points in 13 regular season games and one goal and two points in 14 playoff games.
It’s somewhat surprising to see Zajac brought back, given that he wasn’t overly impactful with the Islanders and was a healthy scratch at times. That said, we’ll wait and what the price is on the deal.
