The New York Islanders announced today that they’ve hired Doug Houda and Brian Wiseman as assistant coaches.

The coaches replace John Gruden and Jim Hiller, who were fired about a month ago.

Houda has a lot of experience as an assistant coach in the NHL, having spent the last six seasons as an assistant coach with the Detroit Red Wings. He had also been an assistant coach with the Boston Bruins for 10 seasons before that and did play 561 career NHL games as well.

Wiseman, on the other hand, has spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach with the Edmonton Oilers.
