The New York Islanders didn't make any trades today but they did re-sign forwards Cal Clutterbuck and Zach Parise.

Clutterbuck’s extension is for two years and will carry a $1.75 million cap hit. He’s 34 years old and has scored six goals and 15 points in 59 games this season, a pace of eight goals and 21 points per 82 games.

Parise’s deal is for one year and will carry a $750,000 cap hit but has an AAV of $1.5 million, factoring in bonuses. The winger is 37 years old and has scored eight goals and 24 points in 60 games this season, a pace of 11 goals and 33 points per 82 games.

Both of the contracts are fine, each being short term moves and having minimal cap implications. Clutterbuck continues to be a solid depth forward, while Parise has been very good since joining the Islanders. That said, it’s still underwhelming that the Islanders didn’t manage to get back any assets at the deadline, despite having several players who could’ve been flipped for picks.
