This deal comes just two days before Pulock’s arbitration hearing, which was scheduled for Friday. He played on New York’s top pairing this season and had 35 points in 68 games. Pulock will be an unrestricted free agent when this two-year deal expires in 2022.
I had said yesterday that a shorter deal could be the solution to re-signing Pulock ahead of his arbitration hearing. It’s a move that works for both sides, allowing Pulock to sign a new contract in two years, when he’s still at a prime age for a long-term deal, while the lower AAV helps New York’s cap situation.
I’ll give more in-depth thoughts and analysis on the signing tomorrow.
