The New York Islanders have re-signed defenseman Sebastian Aho to a two-year contract, according to The Athletic’s Arthur Staple. As of now, the AAV for the deal has not been reported.
Sebastian Aho (the #Isles one) has signed a two-year deal with the team, the second year is a one-way contract. Aho, 24, hasn't played an NHL game for the #Isles since 2017-18 but was part of the bubble taxi squad in the playoffs. He has 105 points in 156 games with Bridgeport.
Aho spent another season with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers this past year, where he had 30 points in 49 games. He hasn’t played a game with the Islanders since the 2017-18 season but remains one of the more promising defense prospects in the organization.
Given that he’s now 24 years old, New York will likely want to get him into a bit of game action at some point soon, so they can get a sense of whether or not he could become an NHL defenseman. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him as a spare with the Islanders next season.
