Islanders unveil Reverse Retro jersey

The New York Islanders officially released their Reverse Retro alternate jersey today, shown below.


The jersey is supposed to be a callback to their 1980s jersey. It’s very similar to the current home jersey, basically just with a darker shade and the order of the stripes switched.


It has received some hate online and admittedly, it is somewhat of a missed opportunity. Many other teams took a chance to do something different with their jersey and it would’ve been cool to see a bit more work go into remixing the colour scheme. That said, while it’s pretty tame compared to a lot of the other jerseys, it’s still a good look, in my opinion.
