Announced earlier this week as the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs began, Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin is a finalist for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy.

The award recognizes a player who shows sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct, along with a high standard of playing ability. The two other finalists are Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon and Winnipeg Jets forward Kyle Connor.

A win would mark Slavin’s second straight Lady Byng Trophy, after taking home the award for the first time last year. The defenseman had also finished fourth in voting for the 2019-20 season.
