The Los Angeles Kings acquired defenseman Troy Stecher from the Detroit Red Wings today, in exchange for a 2022 seventh-round pick.
Stecher is 27 years old and is on the final year of a two-year contract, which carries a $1.7 million cap hit. This season, Stecher has scored one goal and two points in 16 games and before joining the Red Wings, Stecher also spent four years with the Vancouver Canucks.
In only giving up a seventh-round pick, you can’t complain about this move for the Kings. They're getting a depth defenseman at a time in which they’re dealing with a ton of injuries on their blue line. He likely won’t be a long-term fit with the Kings but for now, he’ll provide some temporary help.
