The Kings started very slow and got down early. They were outshot and outchanced in the first period and found themselves in a 2-0 deficit. However, they managed to bounce back and ended up taking the lead, until the Sharks tied the game with under a minute to go. The game went to a shootout, where Logan Couture and Martin Jones were the heroes for the Sharks.
Yet again, the Kings couldn’t put a full game together. They didn’t really show up in the first period and couldn’t get anything going offensively early on. It’s a good sign that they were able to rally back and take the lead but if Los Angeles could manage to play a full 60 minutes, they’d be a far more competitive team.
While the top line had a strong performance, the rest of the forward group didn’t generate much offense. Defensively, the Kings gave up a high number of shots and once again, Cal Petersen didn’t get a ton of help, especially late in the game. Drew Doughty was also injured but it appears as though it isn’t overly serious.
It was great to see the Kings fight back into the game but it’s becoming too much of a trend that they can’t play a complete game.
