The Los Angeles Kings announced today that they’ve signed forward TJ Tynan to a two-year contract extension. The deal carries a $787,500 cap hit.

Tynan is 30 years old and has played a total of 21 career NHL games. This past season, Tynan scored at a significant rate with the AHL’s Ontario Reign, with 98 points in 62 games, leaving him with the highest points per game pace in the AHL (more than five games played). He was named AHL MVP for the second year in a row and also suited up for two games with the Kings in December.

While the Kings have a crowded forward group and Tynan is already 30 years old, he’s also produced at a significant rate over the last three years in the AHL. He provides a bit of organizational depth and it wouldn't be shocking to see him get into some NHL games next season.
