The Los Angeles Kings have signed second-overall pick Quinton Byfield to a three-year entry-level contract.

We know he’ll also wear number 55 with the Kings, the same number he wore with the OHL's Sudbury Wolves. This past season with the Wolves, he scored 32 goals and 82 points in just 45 OHL games and he projects as a potential first-line NHL center.

It’ll be interesting to see whether or not Byfield starts the 2020-21 season in the NHL. I’d imagine at the very least, Byfield will get a nine-game trial run with the Kings, to see if he’ll be able to make the jump right away. Either way, Byfield will be a key player in Los Angeles for a very long time and it’s exciting to see him sign his first contract with the Kings.

Note: The Kings also signed forward Bokondji Imama and defenseman Austin Strand to extensions over the last few days.
