New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal earned a silver medal while representing Canada at this year’s World Hockey Championship.

Barzal and Canada made it to the tournament final, before losing to Finland. Canada made a great effort to come back from a 3-1 deficit in the final couple minutes of the game to tie it, but still ended up falling in overtime.

Barzal had an assist on each one of Canada’s goals against Finland and was named Player of the Game for Canada. This marked Barzal’s second time participating in the tournament but his first time winning a medal and the forward ended the tournament with two goals and eight points in nine games.

Kieffer Bellows had also participated but didn’t earn a medal, after the United States fell to Czechia in the Bronze Medal Game. Bellows finished the tournament with three goals and five points in 10 games.
