Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. I’m late on this, but here are last week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.

QUESTION: How important do you think it is for the Sharks to hold on to their draft picks in the coming years?

(Votes: 98)

Very important: 74%
Somewhat important: 14%
Not important: 11%

For a team who needs to get younger, it’s certainly very important that they’re holding on to their draft picks, like 74 per cent of voters agreed. The Sharks’ lack of draft picks over the last few years is one of the major reasons they have a depth issue right now and if they hope to contend soon once again, they’ll need to build up their prospect pool through the draft.

QUESTION: Who was the biggest offseason loss for the Sharks (other than Pavelski)?

(Votes: 149)

Donskoi: 50%
Braun: 37%
Nyquist: 13%

Donskoi would be my pick as well. The Sharks at least had other depth on defense to offset the loss of Braun a bit, while Nyquist was only a rental to begin with. Donskoi provided key secondary scoring that was sorely missed this season.

QUESTION: How do you feel about Lukas Radil leaving for the KHL?

(Votes: 110)

Don’t feel strongly either way: 54%
Like it: 35%
Don’t like it: 12%

As expected, people aren’t heartbroken about this. Radil couldn’t cut it in the NHL and at nearly 30 years old, he wasn’t going to change much as a player. It’s better for the Sharks to give the opportunity to a younger, more talented forward to try and create some younger depth pieces.
