Reviewing the season (so far): Sebastian Aho |

Similar to what I’m doing with my blog covering the New York Islanders, starting today, I’ll be doing daily player profiles, with each one giving my thoughts on how a different member of the Carolina Hurricanes performed this season. The first player profile will focus on Sebastian Aho.
This was another big year from Sebastian Aho, once again performing as a star for the Hurricanes. Aho had a slow start to the season with an underwhelming October but quickly recovered in a major way. After October, Aho had 35 goals and 60 points in just 56 games.
I think the shocking thing about Aho’s season was how high his ceiling is in terms of goal-scoring ability. Despite not being a huge guy, he seems to always be able to get himself placed right in front of the net to bury a tap-in or a loose puck. He was on pace for 45 goals this season and while his shooting percentage may be unsustainable, anywhere near 45 goals would have been way up from his first three seasons in the league.
I think somewhere around 35 goals and 80 points is around the kind of production we can expect from Aho going forward. This is going to be made possible in part by playing with two other stars in Andrei Svechnikov and Teuvo Teravainen. Considering Martin Necas will only improve and Vincent Trocheck will make for a quality second-line center, the Hurricanes should use the three stars on their top line going forward, so long as the Hurricanes are able to get secondary scoring from other players.
Between Aho, Svechnikov and Teravainen, the Hurricanes have a three-headed monster up front. Aho remains a star for the Hurricanes and it will stay that way for a long time.
