Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. Here are this week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.
QUESTION: How many points do you expect Tomas Hertl to score next season?
(Votes: 81)
60-70 points: 43%
50-60 points: 27%
More than 70 points: 22%
Less than 50 points: 7%
Hertl may have had a monster year in 2018-19, but that shooting percentage is going to be near impossible to replicate. Next season, I think he’ll be right around the 62 points per 82 average that he had this year.
QUESTION: Do you think Martin Jones will remain with the Sharks until his contract expires in 2024?
(Votes: 87)
No: 74%
Yes: 26%
While I want to say that Jones won’t be with the Sharks for another four years, I’m also not sure I see him leaving. Nobody is taking that contract so the only route the Sharks could probably go is a buyout.
QUESTION: How many points do you expect from Evander Kane next season?
(Votes: 83)
60-65 points: 34%
More than 65 points: 27%
55-60 points: 25%
Less than 55 points: 14%
I’m with the 52 per cent that think Kane will be between 55 and 65 points once again next season. Considering he’s never been on pace for 65 points per 82 in a season, however, I don’t see him passing that mark now.
QUESTION: Will Erik Karlsson bounce back next season?
(Votes: 251)
No: 51%
Yes: 49%
As this poll indicates, it really could go either way. Knowing the player that Karlsson is, hopefully he’s able to return to form but the fact that he’s already 30 years old is a bit of a cause for concern.
