Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. Here are this week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.

QUESTION: How did you feel about Melker Karlsson’s performance this season?

(Votes: 35)

Not happy with it: 77%
Didn’t feel strongly either way: 20%
Happy with it: 3%

There's a pretty clear majority here. Karlsson was nowhere near as effective as a few years ago and didn’t help to provide a solution for San Jose’s lack of depth scoring. As I’ve said, I’d imagine that he isn’t back for next season.

QUESTION: Do you think Joel Kellman will have a permanent spot in San Jose’s lineup next season?

(Votes: 29)

Yes: 48%
No: 28%
Maybe: 24%

I think Kellman is likely to have a spot next season, just based on how thin the Sharks are in the bottom-six. Kellman was one of the few prospects that actually adjusted quite well to the NHL and hopefully he’s able sustain that play over a full season.

QUESTION: Do you think Kevin Labanc is good enough to be a permanent top-six NHL forward?

(Votes: 89)

Yes: 53%
No: 25%
Maybe: 22%

While I do think Labanc is good enough to be a long-term top-six forward, it’s a matter of whether he’ll be able to produce consistently. We saw what he could do last season but he’ll need a bounce-back year.
