Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. Here are this week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.

QUESTION: Would you rather see the Islanders:

(Votes: 161)

Beat the Panthers and advance to the first round of the playoffs: 61%
Lose and have a 12.5% chance at Alexis Lafreniere: 39%

This was closer than I expected. I can see the appeal of getting a chance at Lafreniere but again, this is only a 12.5 per cent chance. I’d maybe sway a bit more if we’re talking around the range of 25 per cent, but 12.5 per cent just isn't strong enough odds to root against the Islanders making a playoff run.

QUESTION: Does the potential of Sergei Bobrovsky being an x-factor in the series worry you at all?

(Votes: 80)

Yes: 55%
No: 45%

A pretty split vote, which seems about right. I wouldn’t say I’m actively worried, but it is something to note. At the top of his game, he’s a star and after seeing what he was able to do against Tampa Bay last season, there’s always the threat of him being a difference maker for the Panthers.

QUESTION: How bad of a cap situation do you think the Islanders are in?

(Votes: 144)

It’s bad, but manageable: 53%
It’s a big problem: 37%
It’s being overblown: 10%

Like 90 per cent of readers voted (and as you know if you read my articles), I definitely don’t think the cap situation is being exaggerated. It’s certainly not a great situation for the Islanders and how they’ll be able to manage it is up in the air.
