Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. Here are this week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.
QUESTION: Which team do you believe has the stronger forward group?
(Votes: 136)
Florida: 60%
New York: 40%
There’s not a huge difference in the forward groups once you factor in the New York's advantage at center. However, the Panthers just have the better wingers and with Aleksander Barkov, Evgenii Dadonov, Mike Hoffman and Jonathan Huberdeau at the top of their lineup, Florida will have the better offense.
QUESTION: Which team do you believe has the stronger defense?
(Votes: 114)
New York: 89%
Florida: 11%
Like this poll indicates, I don’t think there’s much of a debate here. Florida’s defense was one of the things slowing them down this year, while New York’s is the major reason they’ve been a quality team for the last two years. The Islanders have a massive advantage on the back end.
QUESTION: Which team do you think will have the better goaltending in the series?
(Votes: 108)
New York: 78%
Florida: 22%
Like I wrote in the article, Sergei Bobrovksy is by far the best goalie on either team, when he’s at his best. However, we have no idea if he'll be in top form for the series and based on how he performed this season, it’s probably unlikely. Between the duo of Thomas Greiss and Semyon Varlamov, the Islanders are in a good spot between the pipes.
