Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. Here are this week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.

QUESTION: Do you think Ryan Getzlaf will be back with the Ducks after his contract expires next summer?

(Votes: 262)

Yes: 53%
No: 47%

While I think there’s certainly a good chance Getzlaf is back with the Ducks after his contract expires, I don’t think it’s a given and I think the results pretty accurately depict the uncertainty here. He could retire or even be traded in the case that the Ducks aren’t competitive next season and he wants to make a final Cup run. He’s been the heart of the team for a long time and it’ll be interesting to see what happens with Anaheim’s captain in a year from now.

QUESTION: Who won the Frederik Andersen trade?

(Votes: 574)

Both teams: 55%
Anaheim: 19%
Toronto: 18%
It’s too early to tell: 9%

Great to see so many responses on this one. Obviously, as I noted in the article, I certainly think it ended up being a fair deal for both teams. It’s funny to see that even amongst people who voted that a certain team won the trade, it was 108 votes for Anaheim versus 103 for Toronto. That's about as close as it gets. It got Toronto their starting goalie, while setting the Ducks up for the future with draft picks that turned into key young forwards for the organization.

QUESTION: Of these options, who would you want to see as Anaheim’s backup if Ryan Miller retires?

(Votes: 222)

Stolarz: 32%
Khudobin: 24%
Talbot: 21%
Greiss: 17%
Dell: 6%

I was surprised to see so many readers voting in favour of Stolarz as a backup. While I think he may be the most likely option, I don’t necessarily see him as the best option. That said, he did have a solid year in the AHL and is still young enough that he could stick around as Anaheim’s backup for a little while if he proves to be capable. Perhaps getting another crack as a full-time NHL backup could prove to be just what Stolarz needs.
