Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. Here are this week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.

QUESTION: If the Islanders can bring Derick Brassard back on another cheap one-year deal, should they do it?

(Votes: 168)

Yes: 58%
No: 42%

I’m not a huge Brassard fan but I don’t see the Islanders getting someone better for cheaper. They don’t have any NHL-ready forwards other than Kieffer Bellows, which means they’ll have a spot open in the top-nine. He can be effective when he’s playing with other good players and bringing him back for another year could be a good way to bridge the gap until Oliver Wahlstrom is ready to make the jump to the NHL.

QUESTION: Who do you think has the worst contract on the Islanders’ payroll?

(Votes: 358)

Ladd: 89%
Komarov: 5%
Someone else: 3%
Boychuk: 2%
Clutterbuck: Less than 1%
Hickey: Less than 1%

Okay, my bad. I should’ve said “other than Ladd” and removed him as an option. This one was too dull and had an obvious choice. What was shocking to me though, is that Komarov had more votes than Boychuk (19 for Komarov, 7 for Boychuk)? Didn’t see that one coming and can’t say I agree with it.

QUESTION: How many points do you expect from Pageau next season?

(Votes: 221)

30-40 points: 53%
More than 40 points: 41%
Less than 30 points: 6%

I certainly believe that Pageau will be hitting the 30 points, as do 94 per cent of voters, but it’s more of a question of how much higher than 30 points he’ll go. While he could pass 40 points again, I’m not confident in that. It’ll depend on his role but I’m staying on the safe side and betting that he’ll finish somewhere close to 35 points.
