Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. Here are the poll results from this week and my thoughts on how they turned out.
QUESTION: Are you happy with Sean Walker’s new contract?
(Votes: 110)
Yes: 91%
No: 9%
Pretty clear answer here. I was thrilled with the deal and I was expecting the price to be quite a bit higher on a four-year deal. The Kings get a good, relatively young defenseman locked in for quite a few years at a very good price and this deal is already a win, despite the fact that we don’t even know how high Walker’s ceiling may be.
QUESTION: What should Ben Hutton's AAV be if he signed a two-year extension?
(Votes: 136)
Around $2.5 million: 41%
Around $2 million: 31%
Less than $2 million: 12%
Around $3 million: 12%
More than $3 million: 4%
As I said in the article, my guess for Hutton’s next contract would be around $2.5 million on a two-year deal. That said, the price will depend on the term and as long as it’s within reason, I’m hopeful that Hutton returns next season.
QUESTION: Would you be in favour of the Kings using some of their cap space to target someone via trade/free agency?
(Votes: 110)
No, wait for the prospects and take on bad contracts instead: 64%
Yes, it will speed up the rebuild: 36%
I think I’m in favour of the Kings taking on bad contracts but I don't think I would be opposed to them going after an upgrade instead. They’re certainly in a pretty great spot to be able to do either.
