The Carolina Hurricanes announced that they've signed forward Ryan Suzuki to an entry-level contract. A first-round pick in this year's draft, Suzuki had 75 points in 65 games last year with Barrie in the OHL.

The contract at least opens the door for Suzuki 's professional hockey career to get started sooner rather than later. It's unlikely we see him get into any games this year with Carolina's top-three centers likely already set and he's not eligible for the AHL until the 2021-22 season but with a strong showing over the course of the season, he could realisticallty compete for a roster spot as early as next year.
