More minor news regarding to the Anaheim Ducks' defensive depth.

Defenseman Joel Persson, who Anaheim acquired at the trade deadline from the Edmonton Oilers, has signed a deal in the SHL.

Persson didn’t play a game with the Ducks and went pointless in seven games with the San Diego Gulls, after being acquired. In exchange for Persson, the Ducks gave up goalie prospect Angus Redmond. As a result of Persson playing in the SHL next season, the Ducks will not give Edmonton the conditional seventh-round pick in 2022 that was included in the deal.

Persson spent just one season in North America, playing just 13 NHL games with Edmonton and instead, spending the majority of his season in the AHL. This comes just a little while after Chris Wideman signed a deal in the KHL, meaning two of Anaheim’s depth defensemen won’t be back for next season.
