San Jose Sharks forward Lukas Radil has reportedly signed a contract with the KHL’s Spartak Moscow, the team he had played for prior to signing with the Sharks in 2018.
Pending #SJSharks UFA Lukas Radil signs with HC Spartak Moscow (KHL)
Radil spent the majority of his 2019-20 season in the AHL, playing just 14 games with the Sharks, where he failed to register a point.
It’s too bad things didn’t work out better, as he looked to be a somewhat promising forward when he joined the Sharks in 2018. Radil scored at a rate of 16 goals and 25 points per 82 games in his rookie season, despite seeing limited action.
He was turning 30 years old this summer, so it didn’t really make sense to keep him around at this point. As he nears decline, he’s not likely to improve and it’s a much better move to give the opportunity to a younger player who may be able to make an impact in the NHL at some point.
