The San Jose Sharks announced that they’ve hired Mike Grier as their new general manager.
Grier takes over for interim general manager Joe Will, after Doug Wilson stepped down earlier in the season.
With the hiring, Grier becomes the first Black NHL general manager. He played 14 seasons in the NHL, with three of them coming with the Sharks.
Since ending his playing career, Grier has spent time as a scout with the Chicago Blackhawks, an assistant coach with the New Jersey Devils and this season, he was a hockey operations advisor with the New York Rangers.
