The San Jose Sharks announced yesterday that they’ve re-signed forwards Jonathan Dahlen and Jeffrey Viel, as well as defenseman Nicolas Meloche.
Dahlen has spent the last two years in Sweden’s second-highest professional league, where he’s been dominant, leading the league in points in both seasons. Dahlen is 23 years old and his one-year contract will carry a $750,000 cap hit.
DONE DEAL👏
We've signed forward Jonathan Dahlen to a one-year contract!
Viel split the season between the AHL and NHL, scoring four points in 17 games with the San Jose Barracuda and going pointless in 11 games with the Sharks. His contract will also carry a $750,000 cap hit but will be two years in length.
Like Viel, Meloche also drew into his first NHL action this season, picking up one assist in seven games. In 29 AHL games with the Barracuda, Meloche also tallied nine assists. His deal carries an identical $750,000 cap hit and is only for the 2021-22 season.
