New York Islanders prospect Simon Holmstrom has been named to Sweden’s final roster for the 2021 World Junior Championship.

Sweden finalized their roster today, when they cut Los Angeles Kings prospect Helge Grans. Holmstrom is one of 14 forwards on the final roster and one of two Islanders prospects who will be competing in the tournament, with the other being Matias Rajaniemi.

This will be Holmstrom’s first time competing in the tournament and it's also his final year of eligibility to participate. Sweden will play their first game of the tournament on Dec. 26, when they face Czech Republic.
