Timo Meier set the San Jose Sharks’ franchise record for most goals in a single game today, scoring five goals in the San Jose’s 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings.

First, Meier opened the scoring for the Sharks on a power play just three minutes into the game, taking a nice pass from Brent Burns and beating Jonathan Quick.

Then after Rudolfs Balcers put the Sharks up 2-0 later in the period (which Meier was on the ice for), Meier netted his second goal of the game, going to the net and taking possession of a rebound, then spinning and firing it past Quick.

Meier wasn’t done, however, and before the end of the period, he picked up a hat trick, following up on his rebound and taking a pass from Tomas Hertl, and beating Jonathan Quick to make it a 4-0 game (though Anze Kopitar did get the Kings on the board before the end of the frame).

Meier ridiculously scored his fourth goal of the game just a minute into the second period, roofing a shot past Jonathan Quick on a power play.

Then before the end of the second period, Meier officially set the record for most goals by a Shark in a single game, toe-dragging around Drew Doughty and putting his fifth goal through Quick.

The Kings did manage to pick up a second goal in the third period, but San Jose walked away with a 6-2 win.

It was an outstanding display from Meier, who also had six of the team’s 17 shots. Credit is also due to Tomas Hertl, who had four assists, Erik Karlsson, who hit 500 career assists, and James Reimer, who stopped 39 shots in the win.

San Jose’s next game comes on Thursday against the Seattle Kraken.
