The Anaheim Ducks played two games last week and a key forward underwent surgery. Here’s a recap of news and notes from the week.
DUCKS LOSE BOTH GAMES
The Ducks only played two games last week, losing both of them. Anaheim lost 4-1 to the Los Angeles Kings early in the week, before falling 5-1 to the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday. Teh Ducks have now lost four games in a row.
SILFVERBERG OUT FOR SEASON
Forward Jakob Silfverberg will be out 4-6 months after undergoing hip surgery. Silfverberg finished the year with eight goals and 16 points in 47 games and could be ready for the start of next season.
ZEGRAS DOMINATING WITH SAN DIEGO
Trevor Zegras has been on a tear since being sent back down to play with the San Diego Gulls. The forward has six goals and 12 points in eight games since heading back to the AHL.
As for our poll question this week, here are the results, along with my thoughts on how they turned out:
QUESTION: Were you happy with Jakob Silfverberg’s performance this season?
(Votes: 34)
No: 71%
Yes: 21%
Don’t feel strongly either way: 9%
While Silfverberg was still reliable in his own end, the Ducks need him to be more productive. He’s not necessarily a high-end offensive forward but a pace of less than 30 points per 82 games isn’t good enough for a team who struggles to score.
