The Anaheim Ducks played three games this week, placed a notable forward on waivers and called up a top prospect. Here’s a recap of news and notes from the week.
DUCKS LOSE ALL THREE GAMES
The Ducks lost all three of their games this week, falling to the San Jose Sharks, before being swept in a two-game series against the Minnesota Wild.
HENRIQUE CLEARS WAIVERS
In a somewhat surprising move, the Ducks placed veteran forward Adam Henrique on waivers. Henrique had four points in 16 games to start the season and cleared waivers today.
ZEGRAS CALLED UP
The Ducks recalled top prospect Trevor Zegras from the AHL today. Zegras had four goals and nine points in eight games with San Diego to start the season.
LINDHOLM INJURED
Defenseman Hampus Lindholm was injured in Thursday’s game against Minnesota and did not play yesterday. It’s unclear as to when Lindholm will return to the lineup.
As for our poll questions this week, here are the results, along with my thoughts on how they turned out.
QUESTION: Are you happy with Kevin Shattenkirk’s performance this season?
(Votes: 49)
No: 65%
Don’t feel strongly either way: 20%
Yes: 14%
Shattenkirk had a fairly strong start with the Ducks but it’s been downhill since the first handful of games. He’s been Anaheim’s least reliable defender and isn’t providing enough offense to offset the chances he’s giving up defensively.
QUESTION: Do you agree with the decision to waive Adam Henrique?
(Votes: 43)
No: 65%
Yes: 35%
Henrique was off to a slow start but this did seem like somewhat of a drastic move, considering how he was able to produce last year. Also, waiving him certainly doesn't help any trade value he could have had with salary retention involved.
