The Anaheim Ducks went 2-0-1 last week and a key prospect got off to a great start in the AHL. Here’s our recap of news and notes from last week.

DUCKS WIN TWO OF THREE GAMES

The Ducks had an important week, taking five of a possible points in three games. They beat the Los Angeles Kings 3-1, before splitting their series with the San Jose Sharks, with both games vs. San Jose going to a shootout.

ZEGRAS OFF TO HOT START IN AHL

Prospect Trevor Zegras is off to a great start with the AHL’s San Diego Gulls. Zegras has managed two goals and five points in his first two regular season games.

As for our poll questions, here are some of the results, along with my thoughts on how they turned out:

QUESTION: Which young forward do you think has had the best start to the season?

(Votes: 48)

Max Comtois: 46%
Max Jones: 31%
Sam Steel: 19%
Troy Terry: 4%

I think Comtois is the pretty clear frontrunner here. That said, I’d expect both Steel and Terry to up their production sooner rather than later.

QUESTION: Was Anaheim’s 3-1 win over Los Angeles the Ducks’ best game of the season?

(Votes: 39)

Yes: 90%
No: 10%

While the score was fairly close, the Ducks were by far the better team in the win. It was a pretty complete game, with Anaheim’s forward group finally managing to create some chances, while the team also limited shots against.
