The Los Angeles Kings played two games this week and currently hold a 4-6-3 record. Here’s a recap of news and notes from the week.
KINGS SPLIT SERIES WITH SHARKS
Los Angeles played two games against the Sharks this week, splitting the series. The Kings lost the first game in a shootout, before bouncing back to beat the Sharks 6-2 in the second game.
KINGS VS. WILD GAME POSTPONED
The Kings were scheduled to face the Minnesota Wild yesterday but the game was postponed, as a result of COVID Protocols. The Kings are still set to face the Wild on Tuesday.
ANDREAS ATHANASIOU AND BLAKE LIZOTTE REMOVED FROM COVID PROTOCOL LIST
Andreas Athanasiou and Blake Lizotte have both cleared COVID protocols. This means the two forwards could potentially return to the lineup on Tuesday.
As for our poll questions this week, here are the results, along with my thoughts on how they turned out:
QUESTION: Are you happy with how Jaret Anderson-Dolan has performed with the Kings so far?
(Votes: 45)
Yes: 60%
Don’t feel strongly either way: 31%
No: 9%
Anderson-Dolan has played four games with the Kings so far this year, registering two goals and three points. More importantly though, he’s winning battles and has been good defensively so far.
QUESTION: Who has been the Kings' best player so far this season?
(Votes: 67)
Anze Kopitar: 67%
Cal Petersen: 25%
Someone else: 8%
I think Kopitar and Petersen are the pretty clear frontrunners for Kings MVP so far. Kopitar has already posted 17 points in the first 13 games of the year, while Petersen holds a .926 save percentage in eight games.
