Game 36 Preview: Flyers @ Bruins

Interim head coach Mike Yeo's Philadelphia Flyers (13-15-7) are in Beantown on Thursday evening to take on Bruce Cassidy's Boston Bruins (20-11-5). Game time at TD Garden is 7:00 p.m. ET (ESPN, 97.5 The Fanatic).

This is the third and final meeting of the season between the teams, and the lone game in Boston. The Flyers went 1-1-0 in the two games in Philadelphia.

If the 2021-22 regular season ended today, the Bruins would be the lower wildcard seed in the Eastern Conference. Entering the Flyers-Bruins season series finale, the Flyers find themselves 10 points (nine standings points plus an 18-10 regulation win tiebreaker disadvantage) behind Boston. The Bruins also hold two games in hand.

The Bruins are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games and have a 10-6-1 home record this season. They are coming off a 5-1 win over Montreal at TD Garden yesterday. Brad Marchand notched a hat trick and Curtis Lazar scored twice.

The Flyers, who are 7-8-4 on the road this season, are winless in their last five games (0-3-2).

For the game in Boston, Flyers will be getting back most of the players who were absent due to COVID protocol. Team captain Claude Giroux practiced each of the last two days. Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny exited protocol on Wednesday and practiced. So did Justin Braun, who did not end up missing any games while in protocol. Sanheim has had three days of practice.

Rasmus Ristolainen remains in protocol. Sean Couturier (upper body) remains week-to-week on injured reserve. Patrick Brown (sprained MCL suffered in the San Jose game) will be out four weeks. Ryan Ellis (lower-body) and Nate Thompson (shoulder surgery) are out indefinitely. Brassard (hip) us offically considered day-to-day.

The Flyers projected lineup is as follows:

86 Joel Farabee - 28 Claude Giroux - 89 Cam Atkinson
25 James van Riemsdyk - 13 Kevin Hayes - 11 Travis Konecny
59 Jackson Cates - 21 Scott Laughton - 23 Oskar Lindblom
71 Max Willman - 48 Morgan Frost - 17 Zack MacEwen

6 Ivan Provorov - 6 Travis Sanheim
45 Cam York - 61 Justin Braun
3 Keith Yandle - 24 Nick Seeler

79 Carter Hart
