Game 44 Preview: Flyers @ Bruins

John Tortorella's Philadelphia Flyers (18-18-7) are in Boston for an MLK Day matinee at TD Garden against Jim Montgomery's Boston Bruins (33-5-4). Game time is 1:00 p.m. ET.

This is the second of three meetings this season between the teams, and the second and final game in Boston. The Flyers are 0-1-0 against Boston thus far, losing a 4-1 decision at TD Garden on Nov. 17. Boston led, 1-0, at the second intermission but pulled away in the third period.

The Flyers enter this game having won seven of their last eight games. Most recently, they swept a home-and-home set with the Washington Capitals, who had been on a 13-3-3 run before losing 5-3 in Philadelphia and 3-1 in DC to the Flyers. The Bruins, who have only lost one game at home in regulation all season (20-1-3), are 7-1-2 in their last 10 games. The team is coming off a dramatic 4-3 win over Toronto, decided by a Matt Grzelcyk goal late in the third period.

Philly has been playing from ahead of late but resilient when trailing early. However, the Bruins are not a team against whom the Flyers would be well-advised to have to chase the game. The NHL's No. 1 ranked GAA, third-ranked offensive team and best third-period team, Boston is 21-0-2 when scoring first, a perfect 19-0-0 when leading at the first intermission and 22-0-1 when leading at the second intermission. Plain and simple, if you have to play from a deficit against the Bruins, you are almost a lock to lose.
