Game 58 Preview: Flyers @ Hurricanes
Mike Yeo's Philadelphia Flyers (18-29-10) are in Raleigh on Saturday afternoon to take on Rod Brind'Amour's Carolina Hurricanes (40-12-5). Game time at PNC Arena is 3:00 p.m. ET (ABC, 97.5 The Fanatic).
This is the fourth and final meeting of the season between the Metro Division teams, and the second game in Raleigh. The Flyers are 1-1-1 against the Hurricanes this season.
Both the Flyers are Hurricanes are playing the front end of weekend back-to-back sets. After this game, the Flyers will return home to host the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday evening. The Hurricanes will head to western Pennsylvania to visit the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday afternoon.
The Flyers enter Saturday afternoon's game coming off a 6-3 road loss to the Florida Panthers on Thursday. The Hurricanes, who have won three games in a row and are 8-1-1 in their last 10, are coming off a marquee matchup in which they earned a 2-0 shutout win over the Colorado Avalanche.
Philadelphia will be without the services of Scott Laughton, who suffered an apparent concussion in the second period of Thursday's game against the Panthers. For the third time this season, the Flyers have recalled Morgan Frost from the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Forward Max Willman was returned to the Phantoms on Friday afternoon.
Offensive defenseman Anthony DeAngelo remains on IR for the Hurricanes, while goalie Frederik Andersen is day-to-day.
Neither the Flyers nor Hurricanes will be holding a morning skate on Saturday. Lineups will be posted later today. For an in-depth look at the matchups for this game, see Five Things on PhiladelphiaFlyers.com.

Phantoms Update: Allison Survives Scare, Emerges as Hero in Return
Power forward Wade Allison, who has missed most of this season due to a series of injuries, made his return to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms' lineup on Friday. Early in the first period, he had yet another injury. Diving for a puck near Laval Rocket net, Allison suffered a scapel-like skate cut to his right wrist and left the game for the rest of the first period to get repairs.
This time, however, Allison was able to return to the game and ended up having a big night as the Phantoms downed the visiting Laval Rocket, 4-3 at the PPL Center on Friday evening. Allison figured directly in three of the four Phantoms goals as the team came back from a 3-1 deficit to earn a 4-3 victory in regulation.
With the score knotted at 3-3 in the third period, Allison scored a power play goal that proved to be the game-winner. From his favorite shooting spot near the left faceoff dot, Allison ripped home a shot to put the Phantoms ahead to stay.
Two minutes earlier, Allison assisted on a Max Willman tally as the Phantoms drew even. This came on the heels of Willman and Allison collecting the apples on a goal by Logan Day that narrowed a 3-1 deficit to a single goal with 1:52 remaining in the second period.
On the heels of an abysmal performance in a 4-0 loss in Hershey on Tuesday, the Phantoms got off a flying start in this game against Laval. The Phantoms generated each of the game's first 10 shots but had to settle for a 1-1 tie by intermission after Kevin Roy responded to a Cal O'Reilly goal with a late-period tally of his own. On a previous shift, Roy had been denied by Felix Sandström on a breakaway.
In the second period, an early goal by Henry-Raphael Pinard and a mid-period tally by Justin Ducharme built a 3-1 lead for the Rocket before Day's late period goal started the Phantoms' successful comeback bid. Sandström finished with 21 saves on 24 shots. Laval's Kevin Poulin (34 saves on 38 shots) took the loss.
The Phantoms, who have had the injury bug bite again several times recently, got several players back in the lineup on Friday, including defenseman Egor Zamula and center Matthew Strome. Hayden Hodgson returned from a three-game AHL suspension.
Friday's win snapped a six-game winless skid for the Phantoms (19-24-7), who began a 3-in-3 weekend gauntlet. On Saturday, the Phantoms will host the Hartford Wolf Pack (27-16-7) in a 7:05 p.m. game at the PPL Center. On Sunday, the Phantoms will pay another visit to the Hershey Bears (28-21-7).
