The Flyers announced on Saturday that the club has re-signed 35-year-old veteran goaltender Brian Elliott to a one-year contract for $1.5 million. Elliott gave the club a hometown discount against the NHL's flat cap, accepting a $500,000 paycut.

Elliott had a strong overall season in 2019-20, staying healthy all year after missing large portions of the previous two seasons with lower-body injuries. He signed a one-year deal last summer and rewarded the Flyers for their faith in him.

While Carter Hart received the lion's share of starts on home ice, where he was dominant, Elliott saw widespread usage on the road during the reglar season. Overall, he posted a 16-7-4 record this season with a 2.87 goals against average and .899 save percentage. The numbers are pedestrian at a glance, but Elliott went 12-5-2 on the road and had a 2.10 GAA and .929 save percentage in his 12 wins.

Elliott is a veteran of 471 regular season games and 47 games in the Stanley Cup playoffs. A two-time Masterton Trophy nominee (both with the St. Louis Blues and with the Flyers), he's been everything from a backup to a split-time starter and Jennings Trophy winner (2011-12 with St. Louis) as a starter over the course of his career.
