2) The Flyers will hold a noon practice today at the FTC in Voorhees. They'll practice again on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. eastern. They will have a complete off-day on Sunday. On Monday, prior to the announcement of the opening night roster shortly after 5 p.m. eastern, practice will resume as the team begins preparations for the opening night game in Columbus next Thursday (Oct. 12).
3) Yesterday, the Flyers announced the details for the Flyers Alumni Weekend upcoming on January 26-27, 2024. The main events:
Flyers Alumni vs. Bruins Alumni (Wells Fargo Center, Jan 26)
* A fundraising game with proceeds benefiting the Flyers Alumni Association and Flyers Charities.
* The Flyers Alumni Association and Bruins Alumni Association are assembling their respective rosters now. Confirmed Flyers Alumni participants include a reunion of the Crazy Eights line of Mark Recchi, Eric Lindros and Brent Fedyk. Also playing for the Flyers Alumni: John LeClair, Patrick Sharp, Brian Boucher and Joe Watson. Many more names to be added. The Bruins side will be headed by Ray Bourque.
* VIP meet-and-greet Alumni reception: The most popular feature of our biggest Alumni games is back. This is your chance to mix, mingle, get photos, autographs or simply chat with Flyers Alumni from every decade of franchise history. The event is an hour before the game. NOTE: The cost of the fully catered reception is $300 per person. When you order game tickets on Ticketmaster.com, you'll be asked before you check out if you want to add VIP reception access.
Entire Weekend: Flyers Cup Teams Reunion
Most of the members of the Flyers' 1973-74 and 1974-75 Stanley Cup championship teams will reunite in Philadelphia throughout the weekend. They'll be at both the Alumni Game (including the VIP reception) on the 26th) and the Flyers vs. Bruins Game on the 27th. This will likely be the final reunion of the teams as a group.
Eighty-year-old Joe Watson -- the only person who has played for the Flyers or Flyers Alumni Team in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s -- will suit up for the Flyers Alumni team in Friday's game. Joe says it'll be his final Alumni game as a participating player. Then again, he's been saying that for years and then always wants to play the next time a game comes around! He's the ultimate hockey lifer.
Mark Recchi Flyers Hall of Fame Induction/ Flyers. vs Bruins (WFC, January 27)
Recchi will be inducted as the 28th member of the Flyers' Hall of Fame before the current Flyers play the Boston Bruins in a 12:30 p.m. game at the Wells Fargo Center. (Tickets for Saturday's game and Hall of Fame induction are sold separately from Friday's Alumni Game and reception).
