Wrap: Flyers Lose in LA, 6-3

The Philadelphia Flyers saw their seven-game point streak come to an end on Saturday, as they lost to the Los Angeles Kings, 6-3. The Flyers dropped to 1-1-1 during their current four-game western road trip.

Viktor Arvidsson (7th goal of the season) needed just 12 seconds to give the Kings a 1-0 lead. Joel Farabee (10th) got the goal back only for Trevor Moore (4th) to put the Kings right back ahead.

Adrian Kempe scored a power play goal (12th) at the 47-second mark of the middle stanza, giving the Kings a 3-1 lead. Brendan Lemieux (7th) extended the lead to three goals later in the second period.

Early the third period, Kevin Hayes scored (3rd) on a rare 6-on-3 (two-man advantage plus an extra attacker) to narrow the deficit to 5-3. After a heavy push by the Flyers, LA scored a counterattacking 2-on-1 goal by Phillip Danault (5th) to restore a three-goal margin. Ivan Provorov (4th) got the Flyers back within 5-3 with just under four minutes left to play but Arvidsson's empty net goal (2nd of the night, 8th of the season) secured the final 6-3 margin.

Jonathan Quick earned the win in goal for LA, stopping 33 of 36 shots. Martin Jones absorbed the loss, making 28 saves on 33 shots.

For a full recap, analysis and highlights from the game, see the Postgame Five on the Flyers official website.

The current four-game road trip wraps up on Tuesday in Anaheim. The Flyers could have Scott Laughton and Carter Hart back in the lineup for that game. The two players exited COVID-19 orotocol, along with Derick Brassard, and all are slated to rejoin the Flyers on Monday. Brassard, who has been rehabbing a hip issue, is not expected to play in the next game but is said to be close to returning.
