The Philadelphia Flyers lost a well-played game overtime to the New York Rangers, 3-2, at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night. Vladimir Tarasenko (13th) won the game at 3:32 of overtime, assisted by Filip Chytil and Braden Schneider.

An early first period tic-tac-toe power play goal by Mika Zibanejad (32nd) at 2:51 was answered by an Owen Tippett power play tally (18th) directly off an Adam Fox giveaway at 15:05. In a well-played second period, Scott Laughton (14th) gave Philadelphia a 2-1 lead at 11:16. A Chris Kreider deflection goal (26th) at 10:33 of the third period forged a 2-2 tie,

Carter Hart stopped 22 of 25 shots for Philadelphia. Igor Sheshterkin denied 25 of 27 for the Rangers.

The Flyers went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Rangers were 1-for-1.

Owen Tippett logged a massive 25:26 of ice time over30 shifts. There were times Tortorella sent him out on every other shift. In addition to his goal, Tippett had several other prime scoring chances. He easily could -- and arguably should -- have had a hat trick. He hit the post from point blank range on a Morgan Frost rebound and missed the net on another great look from the slot. Overall, Tippett attempted eight shots, putting four on net. He used his speed very effectively all night and his primary line with Frost and Joel Farabee created a lot of attacking opportunities in general.

In what may prove to be his final game as a Flyer, James van Riemsdyk had one shot on goal (lone attempt) on 17 gnerally quiet shifts.
